Zanzibar
Welcome
to Zanzibar. Nestled in amongst the dunes of St George island.
This island is near the old
Florida town of Appalachicola on the panhandle of Florida along Hwy
98. The Appalachicola
river flows into the Gulf of Mexico here. St George
Island creates a barrier and the brackish Appalachicola Bay,
renowned for it's oysters.
This is the forgotten coast of
Florida. Sun seekers have missed
this quiet coast line, thus the beaches are white and filled with
shells. Life tends to be a little laid back. So if you like quiet,
no crowds and not much to do, here's the place for it.
We
named our house on St George Island "Zanzibar". There is a connection
to this spice island in the Indian Ocean. I was born there and we
honeymooned there. This clove island has a rich history and that
history
was anything but quiet.
